Bernard D. Kerns Sr., Age 72, of Malvern, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born Dec. 27, 1943 in Malvern to the late Bernard and Virginia (Vanhorn) Kerns. He retired from PCC Airfoils in Minerva where he had worked for 18 years and had also worked in construction. He is a 1963 graduate of Malvern High School and loved fishing, trapping and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Helen (Nickels) Kerns whom he married in 1983, 2 daughters, Lorrie Kerns of Wadsworth and Britney Kerns of Malvern, 2 sons, Jayce Kerns of Malvern and Jeff (Carla) Kerns of Minerva, 4 sisters, Virginia (Geoff) Ohler of Canton, Bernadine (Buddy) Motz of Malvern, Cathy Plott of Malvern and Bonnie (Jeff) Jenkins, 2 brothers, Ronnie Ray Kerns of Malvern and Jerry (Kathy) Kerns of Malvern, 8 grandchildren; Christian, Austin, Aubri'ella, Todd, Kayla, Zachery, Roslyn and Michael and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Bernard Jr. and Christopher Kerns.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
