Barbara M. Unkefer

Barbara Marie (Rohe) Unkefer, fought the good fight, finished her race and kept the faith until she went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. She was born Sept. 2, 1937 in Massillon to Maurice and Thelma Rohe.

Barbara was a loving and devoted mother to her twins, David (JoD) Unkefer and Deborah (Daniel) Graham. She was a proud member of the Mother of Twins Club. She took great joy in her seven grandchildren, Kenny (Sandi) Unkefer, Becky (Josh) Carroll, Ellen (Adam) DeVore, Isaac (Joy) Graham, Joel (Becca) Graham, Stephan Graham and Maria Graham. She was blessed with eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Maude Holderbaum, who raised her, her parents, two sisters and her fiancé, William Unkefer.

Barbara was a graduate of Minerva High School where she was the head majorette, on the crescent staff, May Day court and Band Queen. She was a homemaker, telephone operator and was a secretary and licensed insurance agent for Nationwide.  She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Minerva where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, deaconess, VBS helper, and on the Home Department. She also volunteered at the Minerva Senior Center.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who faithfully served Barbara through the last two years in her home and Community Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the First Christian Church of Minerva or the Community Hospice of Carrollton.

A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held Saturday, June 4 ^th at 2:00 pm in the Minerva First Christian Church with Mr. Jason Jackson officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.  Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from noon to 2 pm at the church.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com .
