Barbara J. Jamison, age 85, of Sebring and formerly Minerva, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in the Salem Community Hospital. She was born July 24, 1929 in Carrollton, OH to Elmer and Ethel (Gotschall) Amstutz. She retired in 1986 from the Minerva Local School District. Barbara was a devoted schoolteacher at Mary Irene Day Elementary, having dearly loved all the children she taught for 30 years. She is a member of the Minerva United Methodist Church and the Alliance Country Club where she had been an avid golfer. She graduated from Carrollton High School, received her Bachelor's in Education from Mount Union College and remained an avid Mount Union Raider football fan for life. She loved raising cocker spaniels, especially "Lola".
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred Jamison, who died in 2010 and sister, Mary F. Ruff who died January 2015. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Gregory and Marilyn Ruff of Alliance, Bradley Ruff of West Lafayette, IN and Lynn (Jeff) Reuter of East Liverpool, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Floyd Keeder of East Liverpool; and several great nieces and nephews including Randy and Molly Ruff of Brecksville and Jeff Ruff of Columbus.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Minerva United Methodist Church at 204 N. Main St. with Rev. Harley Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Alzheimer's Association c/o 408 9th St. SW, Canton, OH 44707.
