Amanda Catherine (Sommers) Overholt

Amanda Catherine (Sommers) Overholt was taken home to be with her Savior

on December 15, 2025, in the presence of her loving family. She was born May

28, 1930, in Aultman, Ohio, to Martin J and Sarah (Kurtz) Sommers (both

deceased). She married Leonard Overholt on June 26, 1949, and they shared 69

years and 11 months together.

Amanda is survived by 5 children: Patricia Lynne (Joseph Hochstetler), Ruth

Elaine Border, Philip (Sara Yoder) Overholt, Joseph (Ruth Tice) Overholt, and

Christine (Sylvan) Weaver. She is survived by 23 grandchildren, 77 great

grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Amanda is also survived by

sisters Ruth Miller and Sarah Troyer and sister-in-law Martha Sommers. Amanda

was preceded in death by her dear husband Leonard Overholt who died on May

24, 2019, son John Martin Overholt and wife Linda Overholt, son-in-law Ronald

Border, and 2 infant grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by sisters

Leona Stoll and husband Owen Stoll, and Mary Bender and husband Wilbur

Bender, Brother Mose Sommers and brothers-in-law Maynard Miller and Clarence

Troyer.

Amanda was a wonderful Christian mother and grandmother who taught her

children many valuable life lessons. Her hobbies included tending her gardens,

going to flea markets and just loving to be outdoors. Being a pastor's wife,

Amanda traveled with her husband and performed many church related activities.

During her later years, Amanda enjoyed doing Bible Word Search books, listening

to music and the livestream church services of the Hartville Conservative

Mennonite Church, of which she was a member.

Calling hours will be at the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church December

19th, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. The funeral will be December 20th at 10:00 AM with

Thomas McGrath officiating. Burial will be at the Walnut Grove Cemetery with
