Alvin E. Reed
Age 97, a lifelong resident of Malvern, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born May 8, 1919 in Malvern to Fred and Eva (Logan) Reed. He retired from TRW in Minerva and had worked for Metropolitan Brick. Alvin was a decorated US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater of Operations and received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry badge. He is a graduate of Malvern High School, lifetime member of the National VFW and a former member of the Malvern First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Velva (Adkins) Reed who died in 2003, 2 brothers, Clarence "Bud" and Carl Reed, 3 sisters, Margaret Ellen Reed, Blanche Motts, Thelma Jane Reed and a great grandson, Zachary Charles Anna. He is survived by 2 sons, Charles (Debbie) Reed of Paris, Mark (Lesley) Reed of Minerva, 4 grandchildren, Samantha (David) Anna, Stephanie Reed, Erin (Alejandro Valdes) Thomas, Neal (Sara) Berkebile and 3 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher and Alexander Anna.
A graveside service with full military honors will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in Bethlehem Cemetery with Pastor Terry Bailey officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Aultman Women's Board Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn NW, Canton, OH 44708.
