A'liyia R. Hancock, age18, of Minerva, died Sat. Nov. 22, 2014 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born Apr. 2, 1996 in Alliance. She graduated from Minerva High School in 2014 and is currently studying Sports Management at West Virginia University where she was currently a freshman and assistant coach of the women's basketball team. She had also worked at Kishman's IGA.
She is survived by her parents, Cathi Stermer of Minerva and Richard Hancock of Alliance; maternal grandfather, Frank Stermer of Alliance; paternal grandmother, Clare Hancock of Alliance; 2 sisters, Amber Hancock of Minerva, Aliysha Stermer of Minerva; brother, A'reginald Hancock of Minerva; stepsister, Esha Hancock of Akron; and 2 stepbrothers, Richard Hancock Jr. of Akron and James Hancock of Akron. She is preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Jean Stermer.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 pm in the Minerva First Christian Church in Minerva with Rev. Dale Roberts officiating. Calling hours will be Wednesday 5-8 pm at the Minerva High School. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
