Albert Arkenburgh Jr.
Age 73 of Minerva died Sat. June 4, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 31, 1938 in Youngstown to the late Albert and Sylvia (Smith) Arkenburgh. He retired from Passmore's Greenhouse where he had worked for 25 years. He had also worked for Cold Cast in Minerva, and the Stark Co. Community Action Agency in Waynesburg. He is a graduate of Lisbon High School and a member of the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern.
He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Hudson of Minerva with whom he resided, four sons; William (Rhonda) Arkenburgh of Malvern, Gordon (Karla) Arkenburgh of Carrollton, Terrance Arkenburgh of Malvern and Douglas (Caren) Arkenburgh of Minerva, four sisters; Barbara (Billy) Mingus of Malvern, Nancy (Charles) Elkins of Waynesburg, Alberta (Floyd) Passmore of Minerva and Sylvia (Everett) Norton of Malvern, three brothers; David of Alliance, Raymond (Annie) of Carrollton and Melvin (Doris "Jean") of Minerva, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Martha Daviduk and brother, Eugene Arkenburgh and a step-grandson, Daniel Ackerman.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern with Pastor Steve Gilreath officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the New Vine Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
